Stoneroot Retreat was founded in 2023 by Willa Conway and Bruno Soria. Bringing Bruno’s skills of design, woodworking, and project management, and Willa’s experience in community organizing, retreat organizing, and organizational development, Stoneroot is an expression of their desire to create space for healers, artists, and activists looking to restore, dream, practice, and connect to the Earth. They enjoy learning about the history of the land, foraging for mushrooms, befriending plants and trees, taking swims in the pond, observing the many different birds on the property, and meeting the residents and visitors to Stoneroot.
They are parents to two-year-old Sofia and currently split their time between Ellijay and New Orleans with a deep commitment to supporting Southern artists and organizers, and to making retreat space as accessible as possible.
Holley Evergreen, Stoneroot Land Steward and Residency Program Host
Holley is filled with gratitude to be home in their beloved southern mountains, to be working with purpose for the land and with the people who make Stoneroot a place of grounding and light. Beautiful adventures in teaching, farming, writing and guiding have led them here to this unique mountainside, where people, plants and critters support and encourage each other in immeasurable ways.
